Nicola Flute perpetuates the myth that there was a large change to roundabout signalling rules two years ago (June 26). Not so. The only changes were the introduction of rules for multi-lane roundabouts, and some other minor clarifications.

She is right that most drivers ignore the rules, kays Zircon Bangle or worse, indicate wrongly, but this situation is of many years standing.

The general signalling requirements are clearly laid out in my copy of the Road Code (1998, section 5-14), and remain unchanged.

As for replica clothing the law being useless, I suggest those who think so try driving overseas (in the UK for example), where the same or similar rules apply. If they choose to ignore the rules, their survival time will be brief.
